1972 Ford Maverick Grabber

This rare but under-the-radar muscle car is visiting Treasured Motorcars for an extended stay while we perform a full restoration along with some mild custom work.

The Ford Maverick was introduced in mid-1969, exactly five years to the day after the original Mustang appeared. It was basically an economy sports coupe, built on the Falcon chassis and using the Falcon’s 170-cid straight-six as its base engine. The Maverick was advertised at 22 mpg, weighed 2,411 pounds, and sold for $1,995. In the first partial year 127,833 were sold. The Maverick Grabber trim package was introduced in mid-1970. In addition to larger tire fitment, the package included graphics and trim, including a spoiler. For 1971 and 1972, the Grabber package was fitted with a unique dual scoop hood covering its 302 V8 engine.
